The Super World Orchestra(SWO) is an international orchestra which made its debut at the 1st Tokyo International Music Festival. Members of the orchestra are selected after discussion by the leading members of the SWO, and finalized by the administrative office and coordinators in Europe and USA. Another feature of the SWO is that it is conducted by different Maestros of the world each year and it does not hold a certain conductor.
The orchestra is considered to have the same performance level as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic, and is highly regarded not only in Japan but also among musicians in Europe and America and attracts the members of the busiest and most famous orchestras.
In June 2002, by Placido Domingo's request, the SWO was invited to perform for "The Three Tenors in Concert 2002" celebrating the FIFA World Cup Series. In March 2005, the Super World Orchestra performed for the opening ceremony of the World Exposition in Aichi. This performance was broadcasted by NHK throughout and outside of Japan. |
